NEW Ransomware Attack – 9/20/17
Within the last 24 hours a new ransomware attack has been released. Most of the attacks have originated out of Vietnam but we are seeing reports of attacks being released from other countries as well. This threat is growing rapidly, as you read this there has been a reported 20 million attempts to penetrate organization’s internal networks. This is a reminder to us all that we must continue to be extremely vigilant while working with email. This attack may potentially show up in your inbox from a false source. The subject of the email will display “Herbalife” or “Copier File Delivery”. If you receive an email with this attribute, delete the email immediately from your inbox as well as your “Deleted Items” folder.
PLEASE DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE OPEN THE EMAIL.
Most spam filtering systems are robust but new threats such as this can take hours for spam filter providers to catch up with the necessary protection.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU BE EXTREMELY VIGILANT IN OPENING EMAIL WITH ATTACHMENTS OR SUSPICOUS LINKS!
